Essential Seed Mix : Liver Detox

The perfect liver detox topping ! !

After reading Patrick Holford's 9 Day Liver Detox book, I decided to try some of his simple and delicious recipes.  I recommend the Essential Seed Mix  to anyone who loves a little extra crunch and nutrients in their food. It is an easy and healthy way to help support your liver.

The liver is our body's natural filter.  Not only does it filter our blood, the liver also eliminates excess hormones, maintains electrolyte and water balance, and balances blood sugar levels .  According to Holford, the best way to reduce bloating, rejuvinate energy levels, increase immunity, aid weight loss, boost alertness, and clear the skin is to give your liver a chance to restore itself.  This recipe is one of the many which helps aid the liver in a healthy detox.  



Ingredients:

-- glass jar --

-- food processor --
or
-- coffee grinder --

-- flax seeds --

-- sunflower seeds --

-- sesame seeds --

-- pepitas --
(pumpkin seeds)



How to make it:

1) The main ingredient in the recipe is flax seed.

Before you start making your Essential Seed Mix , make sure you have enough flax seed to fill your jar half way.




2)  With the remainder half of your jar, add 3 equal layers of pepita, sunflower, and sesame seeds.


Your jar should look something like this:
 


3)  You now have a choice of either storing the mix in your refrigerator and grinding the mixture as you use it, or grinding it all together at one time so you have it handy and ready to serve with any meal.

4)  If you choose to grind it all together at once, place small amounts at a time into your processor or grinder.




 After successfuly grinding all of the seeds together you now have your very own Essential Seed Mix that tastes great in salads, oatmeal, smoothies, and yogurts.
